College Application Week!

Posted October 17th, 2016 by rclose

Seniors are reminded that October 24-30 is college application week. Many colleges in MN will allow you to apply with no application fee. If you haven’t done your applications yet, now is a great time to do it! See Mrs. Kern for help.

In addition, seniors should be applying for financial aid NOW! Think of financial aid as a big pot of money that everyone is grabbing at…once its gone, its gone. The sooner you apply, the better your chances for getting the most possible aid. Questions? See Mrs. Kern.

Financial Aid (FAFSA) Opens October 1st!

Posted September 29th, 2016 by rclose

NEW this year: the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) opens on October 1st!

Seniors who plan to attend college next year should try to complete the FAFSA as soon as possible to have their best chance at receiving the most financial aid available. Think of financial aid as a big pot of money that everyone is grabbing at…its first come, first served and once its gone its gone, so the sooner you apply the better.

Here’s a link that shows some info about what has changed with FAFSA this year:

Information about applying for financial aid was in the Counselor Newsletter that was mailed to students and parents last week. If you have questions about the FAFSA feel free to call – I’m no expert, but I will do my best to answer your questions! 218.837.5101 ext. 217

Seniors: Free College Application Opportunities

Posted September 9th, 2016 by rclose

Seniors, now is the time you should be thinking about where you might want to apply for college and get working on those applications. I recommend that you have your applications completed by Thanksgiving. The state of MN has a unique opportunity for seniors to apply to college for free during College Knowledge Month – October. Usually colleges require a minimum of a $20 application fee, or more, so this is a great opportunity for students. Check out this list to see if the colleges you are considering offer a fee waiver:
